What to Expect

Athens (Athina in modern Greek) is the capital of Greece and one of world’s oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years. A centre for the arts and philosophy, home of Plato’s Academy, it is widely referred to as the cradle of western civilization and the birthplace of democracy. While the heritage of the classical era (the Golden Age of Greece) is vivid in a city full of great monuments, art, philosophy, architecture and literature, the modern elements and its expressions create a new dimension of the old and a totally new concept such as upcoming neighbourhoods, full of confidence and creativity.

Kudos invites travellers to dig a little deeper, to know more and understand better the old and the new parts of Athens.

The journey starts with the Classical era, where you will discover stories and tales from rubbing shoulders with the local experts, by visiting Unesco Heritages and Golden era monuments, before indulge in the new era and developments. A day visit to the central Athens will give you the opportunity to marvelsome some of the key remaining wonders of Ancient Greece civilization and with the private assistance of our experts to understand the deeper influence of the ancient Greek culture.

You will take a stroll through Plaka and Monastiraki neighborhoods (Old Athens), an area with a history of more than 6,000 years. It’s unique, it’s picturesque, full of labyrinthine alleys and pedestrianized streets that wind their way among ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine monuments, Ottoman-style houses and neoclassical villas.

Enjoy a unique dinner experience with recipes and ambience reviving an ancient dinner celebration, including savor ancient menus, caviar and wines from Homeric and Classical times.

The journey to the past continues with a private guided visit to the Museum of Cycladic Art, one of the great museums of Athens that houses a notable collection of ancient artifacts. The Museum of Cycladic Art is dedicated to the study and promotion of ancient cultures of the Aegean and Cyprus, with special emphasis on Cycladic Art of the 3rd millennium B.C.

Driving to the south part of Athens and Cape Sounion, you will visit the Temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in classical mythology. The remains are perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the sea. According to Greek Mythology, Cape Sounion is also the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea.
